FAQ

Questions about EDH Compass

Short answers about what the tool does, how to read its results and what happens to your data.

What is EDH Compass?

EDH Compass is a free Commander recommendation tool for Magic: The Gathering players. It helps you turn colors, play style and table preferences into a shortlist of commanders to research.

Does it build a full 100-card deck?

No. EDH Compass recommends commanders, not finished decklists. Use the results as starting points, then check Scryfall, EDHREC, rules text, budget and your table before building.

How does it make recommendations?

EDH Compass compares your quiz answers with a local Commander dataset: color identity, archetypes, table profile, complexity, combo profile, mana value and legal commander type. Popularity can help break ties, but it is not the main signal.

What does the affinity percentage mean?

Affinity is a relative fit for the answers and filters you have selected. It is useful for comparing directions inside the current search, but it is not a power ranking or a guarantee that a deck will fit every table.

Where do the card details come from?

The app uses a local dataset derived from Scryfall card data and adds local tags for recommendation logic. External research links point to Scryfall and EDHREC so you can verify current card text, legality, archetypes and deck context.

Does EDH Compass store my answers?

Answers and theme preferences can be saved locally in your browser so the app feels consistent between visits. EDH Compass does not require an account, and quiz answers are not sent to a user profile.
